TUMANA OR Tiwi Upland Management of Areas for Nature-based Agriculture is a 3 – year project with the help of Chevron, the Local Government of Tiwi, Cabiokid, and TAIS. Its primary aim is to establish a permaculture production site which envisions a more well-rooted sustainable development through agricultural and forestry enterprises development. The project hopes to achieve a more responsive eco-system that will create new avenues to achieve food security, enterprise development and holistic human development.
The permaculture production site is a component of a larger agro-forestry development program of the LGU Tiwi. The site will link the communities and its different sectors to learn and share sustainable ways of protecting and enhancing the ecosystem towards a better balance, nurturing long-term viability of the surrounding land and sea-scapes.
The project will focus in particular on the integrated and sustainable development of the municipality with Tiwi Agro-Industrial School and LGU-Tiwi as its main drivers, ensuring health and well-being among its residents.
